This is an old revision of the document!

I will use this game to postulate on server theory:

Musing 001

If one were trying to truly mirror real life in minecraft how would one go about it? Well the first idea would be to add mods who are objective and not tied to any nation, the mods sole focus would be to administer and make sure that proper consequences followed actions, and to make sure the system flowed realistically. The mods would have to enforce real life political ideas and heavily monitor the ongoing game to try to keep all national leaders enlightened to current events and keep players informed about what political standards they are following.

There is a big problem with this though, because this is of no benefit to a mod. The mod will simply be an administrator keeping the rules 24/7 and not actually play the game, it would be a position of babysitting not being integrated into the community. This is the problem with having truly objective moderators. The classical way we solve this is by paying the mods to do their job. This is because when a mod reaches the status of being truly objective and non-participatory the hobby then becomes a job. Nobody works for free so we must pay them. The only way around this is if someone truly has fun on the power trip and they can have fun administering without actually participating. You can see this in allot of gaming clans. There is a select group of elites who runs the clan abut thy never play anymore they are just too entwined with the power of their position to quit.

Of course when you have to tart paying mods to hold job like positions of objectivity this requires a revenue stream, which then turns the free game into a subscription. This defeats the original intent and thus creates a BAD SERVER.
