Byzantium is a semi-autonomous colony of Kurwa, founded on June 30. It is located on the Kurwan exclave of South Krieg on Krieg Island, and is bordered by Lakota Lands and North Krieg (also owned by the Lakota). It is a port city, which is strange considering it has not a single port.

The city was destroyed by a Sky Wizard during the creatinon of the Krieg Sea. The inhabitants have moved to Kurwa's Krieg Sea port.

Modern-day Byzantium sets upon the ruins of the great Jethro Empire, an empire which once stretched from Berndtown to Perkele. During the Empire's golden years, the emperor Constantine MCCCXXXVII founded Byzantium as a trading center to consolidate his power in the region. The city was constructed of pure gold, and was furnished with ports of cypress wood. Unfortunately, this attracted the attention of the Lakota people, who proceeded to blanda-up with the Empire, and cause its devastating collapse. As Kurwa rose to power, it conquered North Krieg for military uses and constructed the wall to serve as a barrier between the lands of Lakota and the lands of Kurwa.

The town has grown exponentially since its founding, and now includes an office/snack bar, a mine, a skeleton mob trap, and a port for trading with Kurwa and Breshik. Large infrastructure additions have taken place, as three gravel roads have been constructed to put some ordnung in the Mandate.

It is a small colony, the majority of the land being marshes and beaches with the occasional lava trap. The most obvious landmarks are The Wall and The Flag.

Being a colony, we send all of our high quality Byzantine Iron to our Kurwan overlords at extremely low prices (0 USD). We also have a thriving arrow and bone industry.

Local life is very laid back, since most menial labor is performed by Lakota workers. Our culture mainly revolves around a great musical and spiritual even known as "Homestuck", which we perform about five times a day. Our most pressing issues are near constant rebellion and a lack of ordnung.

The local government is a dictatorship that answers to the Kurwan Council. Any concerns a citizen has must be addressed using the Byzantine Bulletin Board, which will be read by the great leader and forwarded to the Council.

1. Do not build over or on top of the wall. Heck, you can build inside it if you feel the urge, but not outside it.
